About the role
The Clinical Staff Pharmacist is responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, and prompt medication therapy. Through various assignments within the department, they provide support of centralized and decentralized medication-use systems and deliver optimal medication therapy to patients with a broad range of disease states. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist proficiently provides direct patient-centered care and integrated pharmacy operational services with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel.
Responsibilities
- Properly assess patients' pharmaceutical needs and provide pharmaceutical care.
- Ensure accurate and proper compounding and dispensing of prescribed medications and solutions.
- Build and maintain partnerships with patients and other healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes.
- Counsel patients, patients' families, and appropriate healthcare professionals regarding drug therapy.
- Manage daily pharmacy workflow and operations in the absence of the pharmacist-in-charge or designee.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
- Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing or licensure eligibility in state of employment within ninety (90) days of hire.
- Immunization certification required for Retail or Specialty Pharmacy positions.
Experience
One (1) to two (2) years of pharmacy experience preferred.
Skills
- Maintain the training and education needed to provide patient-centric pharmacy services.
- For Retail positions: Obtain and maintain training and education for comprehensive pharmacy services, including naloxone, immunization certification, medication therapy management, and state and federal laws and regulations.
