Clinical Research Coordinator (San Francisco)

About the Role

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will perform independently or with general direction to coordinate and execute research protocols for the Community Responsive and Engaged Equity Research (CREER) in Mental Health projects within the Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience. This role primarily supports the National Institute of Mental Health-funded project titled Community Health Worker Navigation to Support Mental Health, which aims to improve mental health access and economic opportunity in San Francisco’s Mission District.

The study focuses on expanding the community health workforce, strengthening cross-sector partnerships, and addressing structural factors such as housing instability, stigma, and fragmented care systems. The CRC will work closely with Dr. Lisa Fortuna and project collaborators to coordinate research activities, including participant engagement, data collection, and reporting.

This position is 100% based in San Francisco and requires onsite presence at the SF Community Partner location at least 3 days per week. The role is a career appointment with an end date of September 15, 2027, contingent upon additional funding.

Responsibilities

• Aid with participant recruitment, consenting, enrollment, and retention.
• Coordinate all research activities in the San Francisco community, including supporting community health workers (CHWs) delivering the intervention.
• Conduct primary and secondary data collection and manage research databases.
• Handle project management and administrative duties, including scheduling and logistics.
• Prepare reports for Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), NIH, and other regulatory bodies.
• Assist with database management, presentation preparation, and manuscript development.

Requirements

• High school graduation and sufficient experience/training to perform assigned duties, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one year of experience as a clinical research coordinator or equivalent role.
• Familiarity and prior work with community and/or community partners.
• Experience with research databases such as REDCap and SPSS.
• Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements in clinical research.
• Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Pay

The full salary range for this position is $34.37 – $55.27 per hour. The expected pay scale for this role is up to $47.18 per hour, based on education, licensure, certifications, experience, and organizational needs.
