About the role
Location: Waco, Texas, Facility: Ascension Providence, Department/Specialty: Rehab, Schedule: PRN. Ascension is a leading nonprofit Catholic health system with a culture and associate experience grounded in service, growth, care and connection.
Responsibilities
- Function as a liaison between internal/external referral sources and inpatient rehabilitation operations.
- Establish relationships and aid with communication to case managers, physicians, payors, patients, families and referral sources in order to generate referrals and drive patient admission volume in the inpatient rehab.
- Ensure appropriate patient selection through clinical chart assessments during on/off-site clinical evaluation of patients in collaboration with the physician.
- Complete in-service and educational opportunities for physicians, case managers, interdisciplinary members and other professionals.
- Serve as an educational resource to patients, family members and caregivers.
- Participate in the development and implementation of business plans for the rehab unit and contribute to the development and maintenance of referral source promotional information.
Requirements
- Licensure / Certification / Registration: One or more of the following required:
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensed Rehab Therapist specializing in Physical Therapy Asst credentialed from the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy credentialed from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Certified Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy (COTA) credentialed from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker credentialed from the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Speech-Language Pathologist credentialed from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Driver's License preferred.
- Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
