Clinical Program Therapist 1 or 2 - Substance Use Disorder

This vacancy will be used to fill multiple openings at either the Clinical Program Therapist 1 or Clinical Program Therapist 2 level. The class determination will be made based on the applicant's qualifications.

About the role

As a Substance Use Therapist, you will provide specialized therapeutic programming to clients in an alcohol and other drug treatment program within the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) - Faribault, working with incarcerated individuals. You will be responsible for all aspects of program content, including security, assessment/evaluation, psycho-educational programming, monitoring and reporting, teaching, training, and maintaining professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide substance use disorder treatment, including individual and group therapy.
• Formulate and implement treatment plans.
• Develop continuing care plans.
• Complete client intakes and assessments.
• Deliver psycho-educational programming.
• Maintain proficient documentation and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols within the correctional facility.

Requirements

To be qualified for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

Clinical Program Therapist 1

• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11.
• One year of experience providing behavioral health services.
• An associate’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field may substitute for six months of experience; a bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Note to license-eligible applicants: To maintain employment, the successful candidate who is eligible for LADC licensure must possess a temporary ADC permit within 60 calendar days of the first day of employment and a current LADC license within the 6-month probationary period.

Clinical Program Therapist 2

• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure through reciprocity by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11.
• Two years of experience providing behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy.
• An associate’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field may substitute for six months of experience; a bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year; a master’s degree in a related field may substitute for two years of experience.

Qualifications

Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be further assessed on the following:

• Verbal and written communication skills, including proficient documentation.
• Interpersonal and human relations skills.
• Ability to provide substance use treatment, formulate and implement treatment plans, and develop continuing care plans.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Minnesota LADC licensure.
• Advanced degree in psychology, social work, or a related behavioral or social science program.
• Experience completing client intakes and leading individual and group therapy in a substance use disorder (SUD) setting.
• Experience working in a correctional or secure setting.

Physical Requirements

The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. This position will require tuberculosis screening prior to hire.

Additional Requirements

• The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations, and other applicable background information.
• Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check, including successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
• Employment history, reference checks, and incidents of sexual harassment will be reviewed.
• New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
• The Minnesota Department of Corrections does not sponsor applicants for work visas, including F-1 STEM OPT extensions. All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Pay

• Clinical Program Therapist 1: $26.12 - $37.91/hourly; $54,538 - $79,156/annually.
• Clinical Program Therapist 2: $28.75 - $42.16/hourly; $60,030 - $88,030/annually.

Schedule

• Work Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Days of Work: Monday - Friday.
• Travel Required: No.
