About the Role
The Clinical Office Assistant provides customer-focused service and support to patient flow in a unit-based Radiation Therapy department. This position may be responsible for a variety of duties based on the operations of the department.
Responsibilities
- Patient registration
- Patient scheduling
- Patient billing
- Assisting with pre-certification if applicable (collect insurance information; receipt of co-pays or bill payments)
- Medical records retrieval, release, or collection
- Data entry
- Answering phones
- Routine problem resolution and assistance with patient flow coordination
- Initiation of follow-up with appropriate staff as needed
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy and confidentiality, i.e., HIPAA laws
- Demonstrates respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors, and other employees regardless of cultural background
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- 1 year of experience in an office front desk type role, healthcare registration, scheduling, or other patient-facing healthcare positions
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Computer fluency/literacy
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Organization and prioritization skills
Schedule
Full-Time – 40 hours/week, First Shift, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
