About the Role
The Clinical Office Assistant provides customer-focused service and support to patient flow in a unit-based role within our Medical Oncology Clinic. This position may be responsible for a variety of duties based on department operations.
Responsibilities
- Patient registration and scheduling
- Patient billing and assisting with pre-certification (collect insurance information, receipt of co-pays or bill payments)
- Medical records retrieval, release, or collection
- Data entry and answering phones
- Routine problem resolution and assistance with patient flow coordination
- Initiation of follow-up with appropriate staff as needed
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy and confidentiality (e.g., HIPAA laws)
- Demonstrates respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors, and employees regardless of cultural background
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- 1 year of experience in an office front desk role, healthcare registration, scheduling, or other patient-facing healthcare positions
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Computer fluency/literacy
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Organization and prioritization skills
Schedule
Full-Time – 40 hours/week, 1st shift, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, 4 days a week.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
