Clinical Nurse - General Medical, Part Time

About the Role

Barnes‑Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate, healing environment. The facility features 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms, four intensive care unit rooms, and a park‑like campus with landscaping and a walking path that connects to Millennium Park.

The hospital is seeking Registered Nurses to join a learning and growing team. Schedule

• Part‑time
• Two 12‑hour night shifts per week
• Every 4th weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
• Holiday rotation as required by department
• Benefit‑eligible part‑time position

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
• Maintains constant alertness and safe work practices in this safety‑sensitive position.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing
• Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Experience: No prior nursing experience required
• Supervisor experience: None required

Preferred Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience
