Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Bacteriology

About the Role

A technologist in a clinical laboratory setting, responsible for performing routine and complex testing procedures, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, and ensuring quality control to deliver accurate test results.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate specimen acceptability based on established criteria
• Perform and document technical procedures following SOPs
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment
• Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving
• Prepare and evaluate new reagents and controls
• Report timely and accurate test results to support patient care
• Maintain safety standards and proper use of PPE
• Assist with specimen processing and supply management

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Biological sciences, or related field
• State license in Microbiology (or applicable certification)
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems and computers
• Attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team, handle physical requirements
• Flexibility for overtime/shifts and passing a color blindness test

Qualifications

• Preferred: 3+ months clinical testing experience
• Preferred: ASCP or AMT certification
• Candidates with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may qualify without traditional degrees
