About the Role
A technologist in a clinical laboratory setting, responsible for performing routine and complex testing procedures, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, and ensuring quality control to deliver accurate test results.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate specimen acceptability based on established criteria
- Perform and document technical procedures following SOPs
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving
- Prepare and evaluate new reagents and controls
- Report timely and accurate test results to support patient care
- Maintain safety standards and proper use of PPE
- Assist with specimen processing and supply management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Biological sciences, or related field
- State license in Microbiology (or applicable certification)
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems and computers
- Attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team, handle physical requirements
- Flexibility for overtime/shifts and passing a color blindness test
Qualifications
- Preferred: 3+ months clinical testing experience
- Preferred: ASCP or AMT certification
- Candidates with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may qualify without traditional degrees
