Responsibilities

  • Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CA, Bus. & Prof. Code
  • Adequately adhere to laboratory procedures for test collection, processing, analysis, and reporting
  • Follow established quality control policies and document all corrective actions
  • Identify and address issues affecting test performance independently or report to supervisor
  • Perform a variety of laboratory procedures using both manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines
  • Maintain and document instrument and equipment maintenance daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed
  • Review and verify the accuracy of patient results before release or reporting
  • Recognize and account for age-specific variations in expected results
  • Ensure proficiency testing samples are analyzed similarly to patient samples and collaborate only after reporting results to relevant authorities
  • May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups
  • Assist in developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources policies
  • In absence of supervisor, may assume responsibility for section or department during shift
  • May be assigned responsibilities related to Point-of-Care Testing (POCT)

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year work experience performing high complexity testing in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology, or completed an approved internship training program
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in biological science, chemical, physical, biological science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Training or work experience must comprehensively cover all areas of the clinical laboratory
  • Current and valid California State License required

Pay

Reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $51.20 to $51.20. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire.
