Clinical Lab Scientist 1 (Temp)

About the role

Personalis is transforming cancer management through breakthrough personalized testing, combining tumor-and-normal profiling with proprietary algorithms to detect minimal residual disease and recurrence, guide therapy selection, and enhance biomarker strategies. Based in Fremont, California, the lab fosters a positive, friendly, team‑based environment where you will work on benches such as extractions, library prep, and sequencing, partner with lab assistants on pre‑analytical and post‑analytical tasks, and perform clinical lab testing that physicians use for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain updated understanding and knowledge of the methods employed in the lab and the use of the resulting information by physicians through continuing education activities
• Supervise the activities of the lab in the absence of an onsite manager
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or notify management
• Participate in activities which support all necessary licensure for the clinical laboratory, including quality management functions and on‑site inspections
• Train other CLS personnel and other staff in laboratory methods
• Monitor the activities of non‑licensed personnel as needed
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures, quality control policies and activities including required documentation necessary to ensure compliance
• May be required to assist in assay development activities
• Other duties as required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in sciences or related disciplines
• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license OR CGMBS license
• 0‑4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
• Beneficial to have experience with manual DNA/RNA extractions, manual library prep and working with a microtome

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $56.25 to $66.00 per hour, which may factor in various geographic regions. The PM shift would be eligible for an additional shift premium.

Schedule

Onsite: 5 days a week. Available shifts:

• Friday‑Tuesday, 6:00am‑2:30pm (AM Shift) – 2 openings
• Friday‑Tuesday, 2:00pm‑10:30pm (PM Shift) – 1 opening
• Tuesday‑Saturday, 6:00am‑2:30pm (AM Shift) – 1 opening
• Tuesday‑Saturday, 2:00pm‑10:30pm (PM Shift) – 2 openings
• Training hours may be at different shifts.
