Laboratory/Clinical Lab Scientist

Qualifications Experience in a smaller acute care setting. Ability to work as a generalist across all departments. Required Certifications: BLS, ACSP-CLS, CA CPT. Schedule Variable shifts: 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts with a guarantee of 40 hours per week. Weekend scheduling may vary based on census and staffing needs. Possible shift start times: 0700-1400; Overnight shifts: 2100-2300 start time. Night shifts are 10 hours, with weekend nights potentially being 12 hours. Skills Required Theory and test application in clinical chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, microscopy, coagulation, and transfusion service. Critical thinking, decisive judgment, multi-tasking, and ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle challenging situations. Responsibilities Perform moderate and highly complex laboratory tests including Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, and Microbiology. Report results substantiated by quality control systems. Contribute to Performance Improvement activities and participate in proficiency testing. Supervise MLT and CPT staff. Calibrate and adjust laboratory equipment as per guidelines. Act as a resource to doctors and nursing staff regarding lab reports. Provide functional guidance to lab staff and document critical values. Perform preventive and non-scheduled maintenance procedures with documentation.
