About the role

Medical Laboratory Scientist responsible for performing and interpreting laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, prepares, and processes specimens following standard protocols.
  • Performs routine and specialized testing, ensuring accuracy and timely results.
  • Conducts quality control procedures, maintains and troubleshoots equipment, and documents findings.
  • Adheres to regulatory standards, safety guidelines, and accreditation requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and demonstrates professionalism in communication.
  • Participates in performance improvement and inventory management.
  • Adapts patient interactions to ensure privacy and effective communication.
  • Remains updated on compliance, safety, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, laboratory science, or related field with transcript submission.
  • Current state license (if applicable) and certification from ASCP, AMT, or AAB as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technologist.
  • No prior work experience required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in computer and data entry, especially Windows applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment capabilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Manual dexterity, ability to stand, sit, stoop, and lift as needed.

Physical & Environmental Demands

  • Ability to handle heavy objects.
  • Work in a healthcare setting with potential exposure to blood, fluids, and hazardous materials.
  • Work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
