Clinical Laboratory Scientist - PRN

About the role

A Medical Laboratory Scientist performs and interprets laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Receives, prepares, and analyzes specimens following standard protocols.
• Performs quality control, equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and maintains accurate documentation.
• Participates in performance improvement and manages supply inventories.
• Adapts communication and procedures to patient populations, maintaining confidentiality.
• Supports safety and compliance standards, including proficiency testing.
• Performs phlebotomy as needed and works in a patient care environment with exposure risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology or related sciences.
• Current state license (if applicable) and certification (ASCP, AMT, or AAB).
• Proficiency in computer applications, data entry, and effective communication.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and adhere to safety standards.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Ability to perform heavy work, stand and sit for extended periods.
• Handle exposure to biological hazards and hazardous materials.
• Flexibility for varied schedules and travel between facilities is required.
