Role: Medical Laboratory Scientist responsible for performing, developing, and interpreting routine and specialized laboratory tests to support diagnosis and treatment. Responsibilities include: Preparing specimens, performing quality control, calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment, analyzing test results, adhering to regulatory standards, and documenting findings. The role also involves participating in performance improvement, managing supplies, and ensuring safety and compliance protocols are followed. Additionally, the technician performs phlebotomy and adapts communication and procedures to patient needs. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related field. Certifications required include a current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license (or within 180 days of hire) and certification such as ASCP, AMT, or AAB within 90 days. No prior work experience is necessary. Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in computer applications, effective communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good judgment, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of safety, regulatory compliance, and laboratory standards is essential. Key duties: Performing accurate laboratory tests, troubleshooting equipment, ensuring quality and safety standards, and supporting laboratory operations. The role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially hazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols. Physical demands: Ability to exert force up to 100 pounds, with exposure to infectious materials and hazardous waste in a healthcare setting.
