Clinical Lab Associate 2, Lab Service Center - Full-Time, Night Shift

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Clinical Lab Associate 2 (Phlebotomist) in the Lab Service Center department. This 100% onsite role is based in the greater Chicagoland area.

About the role

The Lab Service Center department performs phlebotomy tasks, order entry, central processing, EKGs, laboratory testing, and assists with DOTs and BATs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform supportive work in conjunction with patient care, including office, clerical, technical duties, venipuncture, and blood specimen collection.
• Obtain EKGs and demonstrate functional skills.
• Interact with patients, respond to telephone inquiries, and distribute test results via phone, fax, or in person.
• Process human specimens for delivery to specific laboratory departments for testing.
• Perform technical procedures for which training and competency have been demonstrated.
• Utilize interactive processes to exceed expectations of patients, physicians, and families in providing high-quality, cost-effective care.
• Demonstrate skills and knowledge to provide care according to unit-specific competencies.
• Adapt to varying degrees of unpredictability in daily work schedules and assignments.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of HIS and LIS systems, progressing to functional capabilities with hospital billing systems.
• Learn to run laboratory testing.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy course or program.
• AHA CPR Certification.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Certification by ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, NPA, ASCLS, NCA, or NHA.
• Inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy experience.

Schedule

• Full-Time (1.0 FTE), approximately 40 hours per week.
• 8-hour night shifts with varying start times; no on-call shifts.
• 100% onsite at the Ingalls campus in Harvey, IL.
• Weekend shifts (Saturday and/or Sunday) every other week.

Pay

The pay range reflects the anticipated wage or salary for the position based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation varies based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements have pay ranges negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
