Clinical Lab Associate 1, Laboratory Service Center - Part-Time, Evening Shift
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Clinical Lab Associate 1 (Phlebotomist) in the Lab Service Center department. Here, you will perform phlebotomy tasks, provide order entry, central processing, EKGs, laboratory testing, and assist with DOTs and BATs as needed. When full competency at level 1 is achieved, you may be elevated to CLA level 2. This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities
- Performs supportive work in conjunction with patient care, including office, clerical, technical duties, venipuncture, blood specimen collection, EKGs, and functional skills.
- Interacts with patients, responds to telephone inquiries, and distributes test results.
- Processes human specimens for delivery to specific laboratory departments for testing.
- Performs technical procedures for which training has been provided and competency demonstrated.
- Utilizes interactive processes to exceed expectations of patients, physicians, and families in providing high-quality, cost-effective care.
- Adapts to daily unpredictability in work schedules and assignments.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of HIS and LIS systems and progresses to functional capabilities with hospital billing systems.
- Learns to run laboratory testing.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy course or program.
- AHA CPR Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification by one of the following: ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, NPA, ASCLS, NCA, or NHA.
Schedule
This is a part-time role (0.5 FTE) with approximately 20 hours per week. You will work an 8-hour evening shift with varying start times, including every other weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday). No on-call shifts are required. This position is 100% onsite at the Ingalls campus in Harvey, IL.
Pay
The pay range reflects the anticipated wage or salary for this position based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation at hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations. Employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements will have pay ranges negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
