Clinical Educator - Speech and Hearing Center (TA4110)

Job Summary

The Speech and Hearing Center at Mercy University, Dobbs Ferry Campus is seeking a Part-time Clinical Educator to supervise graduate student clinicians. Preferred specialty in childhood apraxia of speech and/or speech sound disorders.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical supervision during treatment sessions.
• Comply with the ASHA standards of supervision for in-person and remote sessions.
• Adhere to ASHA and NYS ethical standards for clinical practice in speech-language pathology.
• Affirmatively assist students to provide clinical services in a culturally competent manner, using client-centered and family-centered practices.
• Meet individually with student clinicians at least weekly and as needed. Includes planning and orientation for new cases.
• Provide both summative and formative constructive feedback to the student.
• Edit student clinical documentation.
• Schedule and complete student conferences at midterm and final.
• Ensure students have maintained accurate clinical records and clock hours (lesson plans, SOAP notes, treatment plans and progress reports).
• Approve clinic clock hours on Calipso.
• Evaluate students' clinical competencies on CALIPSO.
• Submit grade recommendations to the Clinic Director at midterm and final.

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 3 years of supervisory experience of graduate students or clinical fellows.
• Experience in academic clinical setting preferred.
• Adhere to ASHA supervisory and license standards.

Education Requirements

• MS in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology.
• Teacher of Students in Speech and language Disabilities (TSSLD or TSHH) preferred.
• NYS SLP License.
• ASHA CCCs.

Physical/Other Requirements

• Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.
