Role Overview
This position supports the daily operations of a Behavioral Health Unit, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The role involves providing nursing care with specialized knowledge, assisting in staff development, and ensuring a safe, positive work environment. Responsibilities include leadership in unit goals, staffing management, performance improvement, staff recruitment and retention, and serving as a clinical resource.
Key Duties
- Assist nurse manager in operational leadership and staff supervision
- Maintain safety protocols for patients and staff
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives
- Support staffing, coaching, and staff evaluation processes
- Promote staff engagement and a positive work environment
- Provide comprehensive patient care addressing physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs
- Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN required or current enrollment with completion within 2 years
- Minimum two years of relevant clinical experience with leadership demonstrated
- Previous charge nurse or leadership experience required
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Valid Ohio nursing license and current BLS certification
- Relevant professional nursing certification preferred
This role is full-time, onsite, working nights, with responsibilities including staff management, patient care, safety, and process improvement to support optimal unit functioning.
