About the Role

The Clinical Coordinator has a dual role that includes time working as a nurse in one of our Behavioral Health Outpatient Programs in addition to administrative responsibilities. In collaboration with the Manager(s) of our Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, the Clinical Coordinator assists in the daily management of the programs, coordination of patient flow, ensuring appropriate staffing, budget compliance, and preparation of performance evaluations. The Clinical Coordinator functions as a clinical expert for the unit, participating in the ongoing professional development of team members and the orientation of new staff. The role also involves participation in unit-based and organization-wide committees, contributing to performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in projects/duties as assigned by the Manager, Klein Family Center and/or Director of Behavioral Health.
  • Enforces program compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, standards, and laws pertaining to patient safety and privacy in collaboration with leadership.
  • Directs and/or assists with mobilizing internal and external resources to facilitate patient flow through the health system.
  • Ensures the program’s environment of care, as defined by TJC and UM UCH, is monitored and maintained.
  • Manages the unit’s supplies and equipment in collaboration with the Klein Family Center Manager to achieve expected patient outcomes and expense compliance.
  • Participates in the collection of quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient safety data; assists in analysis and development of improvement plans.
  • Supervises daily staffing levels to ensure consistency with established standards, census, and patient acuity.
  • Enters payroll data, maintains attendance records, and updates position control documents.
  • Assesses learning needs of team members and participates in developing or facilitating continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Completes leadership rounds to achieve patient and team member satisfaction.
  • Serves as a resource to unit team members in coordinating and managing patient care activities.
  • Adapts work hours as needed to meet the needs of the unit and team members.
  • Assists the Leadership Team in the performance evaluations of clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Performs direct patient care.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in Behavioral Health Nursing.
  • Certification in BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support).

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN or higher preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Board Certification (ANCC PMH-BC) or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Board Certification.
  • One year of nursing leadership experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting: Exertion of force required for participating in patient care (26-50 lbs occasionally).
  • Pushing/Pulling: Exertion of force required to move objects (26-50 lbs rarely).
  • Visual Demands: Near acuity, far acuity, field of vision, color vision, and depth perception required.
  • Equipment Used: Standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone), medical instruments/equipment (e.g., syringe, forceps, needles, lab tools).
  • Working Conditions: Standard office environment, potential exposure to patients with tendencies for violent outbursts, noise/vibration, and biohazards (e.g., bodily fluids, infectious diseases, blood).
  • Physical Requirements: Moderately strenuous – walking, climbing, or standing for extended periods; lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Fine Manipulation: Moderate – regular fine manipulation in keyboarding, setting equipment controls, and use of both hands.
  • Corrected Vision: Normal range near, far, and peripheral vision.
  • Speaking: Effective communication in person and by remote device.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear and decipher speech in person and by phone or other remote source.
  • Additional: Work may require hands-on interaction with patients who have the potential for violence to promote a safe and therapeutic environment.

Pay

Pay Range: $35.08 - $52.64 per hour.
