About the role

The Clinical Care Attendant supports providers by assisting with clinical and administrative tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role includes patient intake, vital sign collection, performing point-of-care tests, assisting with procedures, and ensuring a smooth patient experience from arrival to checkout. The attendant acts as a key team member, facilitating communication between patients, providers, and staff while maintaining compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.

Shift differential paid for evening and weekend hours! Full-time with benefits.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8 AM–8 PM (3 days per week)
  • Weekend rotation: Saturday & Sunday, 8 AM–8 PM

Responsibilities

  • Greet, register, and room patients; collect vital signs and patient history.
  • Assist providers with clinical procedures and perform point-of-care testing as directed.
  • Provide patient education and comfort, review after-visit instructions, and conduct follow-up calls.
  • Maintain exam rooms, medical supplies, and clinic logs per protocol.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, pharmacies, and staff effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and safety standards.
  • Participate in clinic meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations.

Requirements

  • Current Iowa certification as EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or CMA
  • If EMT/Paramedic: Current and Active Permit to Practice/License in state of practice
  • If LPN: Current and Active/Unencumbered LPN License in State of Practice or compact license including state of practice
  • If Certified Medical Assistant: Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or associate’s degree) required. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
    • National Healthcare Association
    • American Association of Medical Assistants
    • National Center for Competency Testing
    • National Certified Medical Assistant
    • National Association of Health Professionals
    • American Registry of Medical Assistants
    • American Allied Health
    • American Medical Technologists
  • Clinical experience preferred
  • Epic experience a plus
  • For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or float to other locations to support optimized staffing
