About the role

We are searching for a Clinical Ambulatory Services Representative II—Outpatient Neurology Clinic at The West Campus—someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide excellent customer service as the first contact for patients, providers and staff accessing ambulatory clinics. You will expedite the outpatient check-in and check-out processes by reviewing appointment status using the electronic appointment system to view information regarding appointment, insurance, and history. You will also collect pre-visit payments and communicate with the clinic liaison regarding factors impacting the patient visit and general clinic-patient flow. You will secure the financial integrity of the patient’s account by verifying benefits and obtaining referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient registration procedures per department process
  • Obtains and verifies patient demographic data for each encounter
  • Confirms patient appointments, verifying patient demographics and insurance information
  • Enters, batches, and reconciles charges daily
  • Ensures that interpreter services are available for patients as needed
  • Provides basic office support including ordering and maintaining office/clinic supplies; maintaining office equipment; managing correspondence; copying, faxing, mailing and filing documents; and collecting and distributing mail
  • Serves in key role to assure most efficient patient throughput in exam rooms

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant certification required in one of the following:
    • CCMA – Cert-Cert Clinical MA – CCMA (National Health Career Association)
    • CMA-AAM – Cert-Cert Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Assistants)
    • CMA-C – Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (American Medical Certification Association)
    • EMT – Emergency Medical Technician (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • EMT-A – Advanced EMT (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • EMT-B – Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • EMT-I – Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • EMT-P – Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • LIC PAR – Licensed Paramedic (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (National Center for Competency Testing)
    • NRCMA – National Registered Certified Medical Assistant (National Association of Health Professionals)
    • RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (American Association of Medical Personnel, American Allied Health, American Medical Technologists, or American Registry of Medical Assistants)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2 years’ experience in a clinical setting required
  • Healthcare and/or pediatric experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
