Client Care Coordinator
Position Overview
The Case Manager Supervisor provides direct supervision and clinical guidance to a team of case managers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliance-driven case management services to families in the shelter.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide weekly individual and group supervision to assigned case managers, reviewing cases, documentation, and service plan progress.
- Monitor caseload assignments and workload distribution to ensure appropriate staffing coverage.
- Support case managers in addressing complex cases, crisis situations, and client conflicts.
- Facilitate peer learning, reflective supervision, and staff development activities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and contribute to hiring decisions.
- Conduct regular reviews of case records in CARES to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of documentation.
- Monitor compliance with DHS required contacts, service plan timelines, and housing benchmarks.
- Identify systemic issues in service delivery and collaborate with Director of Social Services on corrective action.
- Participate in case conferences, critical incident reviews, and team meetings.
- Carry a small direct caseload as needed.
- Serve as a bridge between case managers and housing specialists, facilitating coordinated client support.
- Maintain working relationships with DHS oversight staff and external service providers.
- Contribute to reporting and program evaluation activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Master's degree in Social Work or a related human services field required; LMSW preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of case management experience, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity; shelter or housing services experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with DHS shelter standards, CARES system, and NYC housing subsidy programs.
- Skills: Strong supervisory, coaching, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and support staff in high-stress environments.
- Other: Bilingual ability (Spanish or another language spoken in the community served) strongly preferred.

Our shelter programs are guided by a trauma-informed, strengths-based philosophy and offer a comprehensive continuum of services including case management, housing placement, recreation, and supportive programming to help families achieve stability and permanent housing as quickly as possible.
