About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Responsibilities
- Clean and passivate hardware using means such as solvent/chemical, mechanical, ultrasonic, and precision cleaning methods.
- Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of tubing/piping/components for acceptance.
- Disassemble/Inspect/rebuild/test components.
- Safely handle hardware utilizing overhead cranes, hoists, and associated lifting equipment.
- Use titration and other direct measurement methods to analyze and correct lab solvent/chemical systems.
- Provide identifying features to hardware per technical documentation.
- Inspect hardware using visual, ultraviolet light, borescope, microscopic particle count, and high-precision weighing methods.
- Conduct shop level maintenance and calibration of equipment such as pumps, tanks, filtration systems, scales, etc.
- Conduct general housekeeping of lab and certified clean room area.
- Follow safety regulations and wear protective eyewear, steel toe boots, and other applicable personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail, desire to solve problems, and drive to resolve technical issues.
- Able to lift items up to 40 lbs. and use lifting equipment and machinery for heavier hardware.
- Prove ability to follow direction and meet expectations.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with software systems, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to support one of the following production work schedules: 8 days on, 6 days off Rotation – Monday through following weeks Monday 7:00am – 5:30pm.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Prior experience in precision cleaning of aerospace, medical, or other precision components.
- Prior experience fabricating, maintaining, testing, operating, or inspecting mechanical components for fluid/gas systems.
- Prior experience with mechanical component inspection and refurbishment. IE: Valves (Ball, Globe, Needle, Check), regulators, instrumentation etc.
- Cryogenic experience a plus.
- Familiarity with the different types/styles of fluid/gas connections both tubing and pipe.
- Prior experience in material handling and inventory.
