Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and polish floors using appropriate equipment.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using appropriate equipment.
- Dust furniture and equipment.
- Sanitize restrooms including all fixtures, tile surfaces, partitions, and doorknobs.
- Polish metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
- Wash walls, woodwork, windows, and sills.
- Empty wastebaskets and transport trash to disposal area.
- Replenish bathroom, facility, and cleaning supplies throughout campus.
- Provide supply inventory to supervisor to assist with reorders.
- Break down and set up rooms and event space as needed.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform floor care custodial cleaning as needed.
- Remove snow and debris from campus as needed.
- Report needed maintenance and repairs to supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- General cleaning knowledge; ability to understand written directions and follow instructions on Material Safety Data Sheets for chemical use.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to perform cleaning and maintenance related duties for at least 9 hours per day.
- Ability to work continuously at times on uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to tolerate weather conditions such as extreme heat and cold.
- Must be able to work in tight, confined spaces, and/or working at heights, on a ladder, on a raised platform, outside or near a window.
- Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- In addition to regular hours, this position may require overtime, evening and weekend work hours, and on-call hours in case of an emergency or in the regular course of college business.
Licensing Requirement
- Must be licensed driver in NC with safe driving history.
Working Conditions and Environment
- Work is performed in all types of weather conditions, around hazardous chemicals, standing/walking for majority of assigned shift.
- Ability to stand and walk on campus for a 9-hour shift.
- Assignments are campus-wide and moves between locations.
- Some locations may not have heating or air conditioning.
