About the role
Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and provide positive educational experiences for all students.
Responsibilities
- Work a minimum of 180 student days during the school year, minus any days of absence.
- Report to the specified school each day; if no substitute need exists, report to another school in the zone.
- Assume all student supervision responsibilities of the regular teacher.
- Accurately report homeroom attendance following assigned school procedures.
- Maintain classroom control, discipline, and management.
- Follow lesson plans provided by the teacher; develop and submit additional lesson plans as needed for approval by the department head or team leader.
- Teach up to seven periods per day.
- Participate in Innovation Zone activities during the regular workday if required by the Principal.
- Administer discipline in accordance with Florida Statutes, State Board regulations, and School Board policies (corporal punishment is forbidden).
- Familiarize yourself with assigned school procedures, including bell schedule, fire drill procedures, and school discipline plan.
- Comply with equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
- Participate in training programs to enhance job-related skills and proficiency.
- Review current developments, literature, and technical sources related to job responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
- Follow federal, state, and School Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
Requirements
- Earned sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited institution.
- Attend and complete the Substitute Teacher Training Workshop during the current school year (full year allowed for completion).
- Qualify for a Broward County Substitute Teaching Certificate.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Bilingual skills.

Schedule
