Class B Roll Off Garbage Truck Driver

About the role

Interstate Waste Services is now hiring CDL B Roll Off Truck Drivers in Plainfield, NJ. Safety is our top priority!

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
• Transport the material to a disposal, transfer, or recycling facility, making one or more trips throughout the shift.
• May be required to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and mount and dismount the truck multiple times per route.
• Deploy both manual and automatic trucks.
• Perform driver pre and post-inspections to ensure the vehicle meets IWS's safety standards, OSHA, and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.

Requirements and Qualifications

• 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake endorsement.
• One year of CDL driving experience in the last seven years.
• Great safety record and clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.
• Read and understand a map.
• Meet physical and safety requirements of the position.
• Willing and able to work required work hours under DOT regulation, which may include weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential for this job.
• Routes may require navigating through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.

Pay

Hourly pay rate: $31.27

Schedule

Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours
