Class B Rear Load Garbage Truck Driver

About the role

Interstate Waste Services is now hiring CDL B Rear Load Garbage Truck Drivers in Stamford, CT. Safety is our top priority.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
• Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycling facility, making one or more trips throughout the shift.
• Deploy both manual and automatic trucks.
• May be required to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and mount and dismount the truck multiple times per route.
• Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
• Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
• Routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
• Conduct driver pre and post-inspections to ensure compliance with IWS's safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake endorsement.
• One year of CDL driving experience within the last seven years.
• Great safety record and clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.
• Read and understand a map.
• Meet physical and safety requirements of the position.
• Willing and able to work required work hours as allowed under DOT regulation, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Drivers should have the ability to safely operate various types of garbage trucks and follow all relevant safety and regulatory guidelines.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $26.00 to $33.00 per hour.

Schedule

Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours. Early start time - 4am or 5am. Hourly pay - $26.00 - $33.00. Year round - Steady work.
