Class B Rear Load Garbage Truck Driver

About the role

Interstate Waste Services is the most progressive and innovative provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country, based out of Ewing, NJ. We primarily service Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and Connecticut, with a landfill in Ohio where we also own and operate a state‑of‑the‑art rail‑served landfill. Responsibilities

• Safely operate front, side, or rear‑loading trucks for the pick‑up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
• Transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, making one or more trips per shift.
• Deploy both manual and automatic trucks as needed.
• Repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds and move or maneuver up to 100 pounds; mount and dismount the truck multiple times each route.
• Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight urban areas.
• Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
• Routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
• Conduct driver pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
• Ensure the truck complies with IWS safety standards, OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws before and during operation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake endorsement.
• At least 1 year of verifiable CDL driving experience within the last 7 years.
• Great safety record and clean MVR.
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refuse company is highly preferred.

Skills

• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English
