Class A Shuttle Driver

Average annual pay: $75,000 to $90,000 with potential to earn a performance-based bonus.

Schedule

• Sunday to Thursday, with a Friday for special deliveries
• Dispatch times are between 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• Work required 3rd shift schedule (schedules may vary)

About the role

As a Shuttle Driver, you will play a vital role in the operation of our business by transporting empty trailers to the Operating Company warehouse locations and then delivering full trailers to domicile/shuttle yard locations. You will drive a tandem trailer, tractor trailer, and/or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes in a safe and timely manner, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role involves professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers, functioning as a team member, and performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities

• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards; report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies; immediately report all safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
• Ensure all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch.
• Drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule.
• Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
• Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas; ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured.
• Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer; complete necessary paperwork.
• Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
• Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 12+ months of commercial driving experience
• Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement
• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
• Must be 21 years of age
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
• Pass pre-employment drug test and road test
• Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (60 to 90 pounds) throughout shift
