Position Summary
The Claims Adjuster position at Washington Cities Insurance Authority (WCIA) investigates, adjusts, and resolves property and casualty claims and low complexity lawsuits. This role also monitors the outside adjustment of other loss types. The incumbent must be a resident of Washington State and may need to work occasional office hours in Tukwila, WA, and engage in limited day and overnight travel.
Job Responsibilities
- Investigate, adjust, and resolve property and casualty claims and low complexity lawsuits
- Monitor the outside adjustment of other loss types
- Document claim files with notes, evaluations, and decision making
- Review medical reports in preparation for claims settlement evaluation
- Determine claim value range and obtain settlement authority
- Read, comprehend, and analyze case law and apply to open files
- Review lawsuits and perform coverage analysis
- Use strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Show strong organization skills and the ability to work independently
- Show excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Show public speaking skills, presenting claims to a Board of Directors and occasionally training members in exposure based risk management and claims
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- One year casualty/bodily injury adjusting with some litigated claim handling preferred
Hours of Work
Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00 PM and as business needs dictate.
