About the role
A Civil Engineer V performs difficult professional engineering work in supervising and participating in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Supervising preliminary and final surveys
- Designing structures such as reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, highways, etc.
- Assigning subordinate engineers and inspectors to construction projects
- Settling disputes between contractors and inspectors
- Approving construction changes
Requirements
- Three vacancies with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS), Capital Projects Division
- Two vacancies in the Design & Plan Review Branch
- One vacancy in the Construction Management Pipeline Section
- Five vacancies with the Department of Design and Construction (DDC)
- Two vacancies in the Civil Division, including one in the Structural Support Section
- Responsible for managing engineering projects involving bridge improvements, earth movement and slope stabilization, and guardrail and roadway safety improvements.
- Three vacancies in the Facilities Division
- Nine vacancies with the Department of Environmental Services (ENV)
- Three vacancies in the Collection System Maintenance Division
- Three vacancies in the Environmental Quality Division
- One vacancy in the Wastewater Engineering & Construction Division
- Two vacancies with the Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Storm Water Quality Division
Qualifications
- Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.
- One year of registered professional civil engineering experience.
- Licenses: Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required. Possession of a valid license as a professional Civil Engineer in the State of Hawaii.
