Engineer V
Salary: $8,963 to $11,442 per month (EN-26, minimum to maximum). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, applicant qualifications, and other relevant factors.
About the Role
The Engineer V supervises the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and/or operation of major and complex engineering projects. Alternatively, they work independently on advanced planning, design, or research projects involving highly critical or unprecedented elements. Engineers at this level handle assignments with varied, complex features due to breadth, diversity, or intensity. They address work where precedent criteria or techniques are inadequate or controversial, serve as technical specialists, and may provide staff advisory services. They apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices across broad areas and related fields, perform advanced work in their engineering specialty, and provide technical guidance on critical or highly specialized projects.
As a supervisor, the Engineer V reviews work prepared by other professional engineers or contract architect-engineer firms.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship, nationality, permanent residency, or unrestricted eligibility to work in the United States.
- A valid State of Hawaii Professional Engineer license at the time of application.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. Applicants graduating within three months may apply with an official transcript and verification of expected graduation.
- Four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience, with at least one year comparable to the next lower level.
- Supervisory aptitude as defined in the Minimum Qualification Requirements.
Additional considerations for some positions:
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and carry items of various weights, with or without reasonable accommodation.
