About the role

Ayres is seeking a confident and skilled design engineer to contribute to transportation-related projects for public and private clients. This position involves working on a diverse range of projects, from two-lane rural roads to complex system interchanges.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design teams to discuss project objectives, challenges, and design strategies.
  • Perform geometric design and other design tasks for roadway improvement projects in compliance with design standards, Ayres quality standards, and contract requirements.
  • Prepare final plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Assist or lead in the preparation of various design reports.
  • Participate in regular group meetings to review and coordinate project schedules and deliverables.
  • Mentor less experienced staff.
  • Review work performed by others for quality control purposes.
  • Build and maintain respectful working relationships with fellow co-workers.
  • Participate in office-wide social events.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation-related design.
  • Experience and proficiency with Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads Designer roadway design software.
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Desired Skills And Experiences

  • An enthusiastic focus and interest in using roadway design software for creative design solutions and quality deliverables.
  • MnDOT experience is a plus.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Minnesota.
  • An interest and willingness to develop personally and professionally.
  • A desire to present Ayres Associates as a subject matter expert at professional meetings and conferences.
  • Experience with 3D Roadway modeling is a plus.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The schedule for this role is flexible to accommodate the needs of the position and the client projects.
