Responsibilities
- Working as a Task Leader supporting site design projects nationwide.
- Managing technical aspects, ensuring accuracy, and driving the technical vision of projects.
- Ensuring compliance with regulations and that firm policies are followed.
- Conducting site inspections, proposal creation, and client meetings.
- Mentoring junior staff, offering technical guidance, and supervising their work.
- Developing project design criteria, alignments, grading plans, utility and drainage plans, construction plans, construction specifications, and cost estimates.
- Writing of technical reports.
- Site grading and drainage.
- Utility coordination.
- Utility design (water, sewer, etc.).
- Paving and grading.
- Erosion control and stormwater management.
- Green Infrastructure and Geotechnical considerations.
- Completing Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis of drainage systems and design of stormwater management.
- Delivering site design projects from initiation through final design.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
- 5 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Skills & Abilities
- Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
- Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.
