About the role

Ayres is seeking a confident and skilled design engineer to contribute to transportation projects for public and private clients. This position involves working on a range of projects from two-lane rural roads to complex interchanges, collaborating with experienced project managers and engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geometric design and other design tasks for roadway improvement projects in compliance with design standards and client requirements.
  • Prepare final plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation projects.
  • Assist or lead in the preparation of design reports and participate in group meetings to review and coordinate project schedules and deliverables.
  • Mentor less experienced staff and review work for quality control.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues.
  • Participate in office-wide social events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in transportation.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation-related design.
  • Proficient with Civil 3D, AutoCAD (preferred), and/or other similar roadway design software.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Desired Skills and Experiences

  • Enthusiasm for using roadway design software for creative solutions and quality deliverables.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Wisconsin, or ability to obtain within six months.
  • WisDOT experience is a plus.
  • Interest in personal development and consistent growth.
  • Willingness to present as a subject matter expert at professional meetings and conferences.
  • Experience with 3D Roadway modeling and OpenRoads.
