About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Civil Engineer to join our growing Madison, WI office. This role offers exciting project challenges while managing design teams on single and multi-discipline projects. The ideal candidate will have the potential to develop into a Practice Team Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Project engineering and management including project oversight, setting priorities, and developing objectives, project financial management as well as hands-on involvement in the design process.
  • Serving as a technical resource and mentor for site civil team members.
  • Lead and participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, project interviews/presentations, and client management.
  • Develop new business opportunities by strengthening relationships with existing clients and creating new client connections.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, professional associations, and community activities to enhance visibility and market presence.
  • Professional society involvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Master’s degree with an emphasis on hydraulics, hydrology or a related field of study is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience of design experience in site development, grading, drainage, storm water management, and permitting in Wisconsin. Candidates with additional experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Abilities to mentor staff and successfully lead a project team is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-discipline and architect-led team on large site projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Wisconsin. PE licenses in other Midwest states is a plus.
  • Good communication skills and a proven track record in successfully interacting with clients and internal team members is necessary.

  • Strong technical skills in civil engineering, particularly in site development, grading, drainage, storm water management, and permitting.
  • Experience in project management and leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
