About the role
The City of Tallahassee seeks a highly experienced and visionary leader to serve as the City Manager. As the Chief Administrative Officer, the selected candidate will implement policies adopted by the City Commission and oversee the general administration of the City.
Responsibilities
- Implement policies adopted by the City Commission
- Oversee the general administration of the City
- Support the Deputy City Manager and three Assistant City Managers
- Collaborate with the City Commission, City Auditor, City Attorney, and City Treasurer-Clerk
- Manage a workforce of nearly 4,000 employees
- Administer services including public safety, Aviation, Transit, and Utilities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Public or Business Administration
- At least ten (10) years of senior management experience in public administration, preferably with a municipality of similar size and complexity
- Master’s degree preferred
- At least six (6) years of required experience in a supervisory capacity
Qualifications
An equivalent combination of education and experience that incorporates the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered. The salary range is open; the starting salary will depend on qualifications.
