About the Role

The City Desk Representative supports the operational functions of the city desk, including order entry, order fulfillment, returns processing, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked display area. This role also involves managing vendor catalogs, price sheets, and inventory stock locations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service functions, including order entry, filling orders, processing returns, expediting, and technical assistance.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and well-stocked City Desk display area, including displaying specials and promotional items.
  • Maintains vendor catalogs and price sheets.
  • Informs proper departments of “stock outs,” inventory discrepancies, and other inventory concerns.
  • Maintains assigned inventory stock locations, ensuring correct locators and neat, orderly shelves.
  • Abides by all safety requirements, including wearing required PPE gear.
  • Participates in marketing planning and implementation for Border States product lines as needed.
  • Attends sales meetings and stays current on new products and applications.
  • Assists with receiving, shipping, and other warehouse functions as required.
  • Ensures all batched managed material is labeled accurately and inventoried.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor or designate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a 2-year business/trade degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of prior warehouse, city desk, and/or sales experience with good knowledge of electrical products or systems preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), internet, email, and SAP software preferred.

  • Occasionally (0 – 33%): Lift from floor to waist up to 100 lbs; lift above waist up to 75 lbs; unilateral carry up to 25 lbs; bilateral carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequently (34 – 66%): Standing, reaching, balancing, pushing/pulling, handling, talking, desk work, use of tools, hearing, exposure to adverse weather/temperature conditions.
  • Continuously (67 – 100%): Walking, fingering, driving (forklift), repetitive motion (wrists/hands/fingers).
