About the role
You will take on an important role in empowering refugees by preparing them for U.S. citizenship. This role involves leading educational classes that cover the necessary curriculum for citizenship application, including teaching about U.S. history and government, guiding through the initial application process, and preparing for interviews.
Responsibilities
- Organize and utilize volunteers to deliver the citizenship curriculum effectively.
- Manage classroom settings and provide tailored support to each participant.
- Offer practical advice on navigating the application process and increasing the chances of approval.
- Teach the necessary curriculum for citizenship application, including U.S. history and government.
- Guide participants through the initial application process.
- Prepare participants for citizenship interviews.
- Oversee the completion of initial citizenship applications, ensuring all documentation is correctly handled.
- Provide ongoing support to refugees as they prepare for their citizenship interviews.
Requirements
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience in teaching or coaching.
- A heartfelt commitment to assisting refugees.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with the citizenship application process.
- Previous experience working in community services or with non-profit organizations.
