About the role
Responsible for providing leadership, direction, and supervision of the spa and fitness staff in daily operations, retail management, membership, and fitness programs. The primary guest focus is to elevate the Chuan Spa experience to be the premier spa in the LA market by adhering to all Chuan Spa standards. The Spa Manager assists in overseeing coordination of guest requests, special activations and events, payroll, scheduling, and product inventory and ordering.
Responsibilities
- Schedule all spa, retail, and fitness staff; track absences and time off
- Manage payroll procedures and ensure accurate accounting (research errors, run weekly unprocessed transaction reports, ensure bank procedures are followed, supervise time clock usage)
- Proficient in Book4Time; add new employees and maintain their schedules
- Handle disciplinary action as necessary
- Coordinate fitness schedules with staff, print monthly schedules, and provide information to Marketing for website posting
- Ensure proper par levels for linen and spa amenities
- Maintain retail inventory, office supplies, and collateral
- Monitor and critique product usage to prevent overuse
- Supervise security and distribution of professional products
- Maintain accurate records of invoices and create savings to meet budget goals
- Prepare purchase orders for supplies and order as needed
- Promote sales of treatments and fitness memberships
- Collaborate on special activations and events
- Prepare performance reviews for staff on a timely basis
- Train staff in proper performance of duties and provide continual feedback
- Maintain brand standards across all areas of Chuan Spa
- Ensure equipment in departments is in working order
- Represent the department in pertinent meetings
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (College degree in Business Administration or Hospitality Management preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of spa supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Book4Time
- Accounting and budgeting knowledge
- Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or employees
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
