About the role
The Wilmer Children’s Ministry exists for children from birth-5th grade. Our mission is to partner with parents as we teach kids to have hearts that love Jesus, minds that think like Jesus, and lives that follow Jesus.
Responsibilities
- Support Children’s Minister with children’s ministries including Sunday AM extended session, Sunday Children’s Church, Wednesday Nights, and Special Events.
- Aid in training and support of volunteers to serve effectively and joyfully.
- Help plan and organize the above-mentioned programs as directed by Children’s Minister.
- Help implement curriculum and programming that teaches biblical truth and aligns with Wilmer Baptist Church doctrine.
- Create a safe, secure, and loving environment for all children; ensure compliance with church safety and protection policies.
- Build relationships with children and families to encourage spiritual development at home.
- Assist Children’s Minister with planning and directing seasonal events such as Vacation Bible School, holiday programs, and family outreach events.
- Collaborate with pastoral staff to integrate children’s ministry into the overall mission of the church.
- Communicate regularly with parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
- Support church in all aspects as directed by Lead Pastor.
- When necessary, lead Children’s ministry on Sunday’s and/or Wednesdays in the event Children’s Minister is not present.
Requirements
A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ; affirmation of Baptist doctrine and commitment to the mission of the church. Passion for children’s ministry and demonstrated experience working with children and families. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to recruit, equip, and shepherd volunteers. Creativity, flexibility, and a team-oriented mindset. Prior ministries experience preferred. Must pass a background check.
