The Oregon Department of Justice’s Division of Child Support (DCS) is seeking to hire four (4) Child Support Case Managers (Entry) for our Oregon City office. Core skills to be successful as a case manager include attention to detail, consistency, and organization. Responsibilities
- Review individuals’ case documents and records to determine if a child support order is needed.
- Contact agency customers and other service providers to gather information to assist in establishing paternity and to establish and enforce support orders.
- Establish, modify, enforce, and provide accounting records for child support orders by deciding needed action.
- Apply federal and state laws, rules, and agency policies and procedures.
- Verify payments are properly disbursed.
- Verify accuracy of any state agency claims against child support.
- Request, review, and evaluate paternity declarations to initiate action.
- Complete and file legal documents to establish paternity.
- Process modification requests.
- Gather wage and health care information, research and apply child support guidelines to calculate support obligation.
Requirements
- Three (3) years of experience working with the public in person or by phone giving information about services and programs and solving customer problems/complaints. Experience must include the use of personal computers, web-based applications, and typical software such as Microsoft Office.
- A Bachelor's Degree may substitute for the above experience.
Finalists must pass a comprehensive employment reference check and fingerprint-based criminal background check. A driver history check will be included for positions requiring state vehicle driving privileges. Adverse findings will be evaluated to determine eligibility for the position.

- Experience using a variety of computer programs to view, enter, edit, and extract information.

- Ability to maintain professional composure, tact, and friendliness while working with the public who may be irate, hostile, and/or emotionally distraught.
- An ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.

Pay
Salary range: $4,124 - $5,714 monthly. After one year and upon successful completion of trial service, employees will meet the minimum qualifications of Child Support Case Manager and be placed in the Child Support Case Manager classification with a salary range of $4,833 - $6,713 monthly (6% of which is the Public Employees Retirement System contribution).
Schedule
During training, required work hours are 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday in office, with an hour scheduled for lunch. After training is complete, there may be more schedule flexibility.
