The Executive Director serves a pivotal role in the advancement of the mission of YFC. This position requires spiritual and organizational leadership skills, the ability to work with and through other people, as well as strong communication, management, and persuasion skills. The Executive Director must embrace and build a team that embodies YFC’s Cultural Attributes: Christ-centered, enduring humility, relentless trust, courageous faithfulness, joyful camaraderie, and kingdom-inspired diversity.

About the Role

The Executive Director is a strategist who leads, inspires, and is responsible for executing the vision of Youth For Christ in their community. This role involves developing a team and ministry by recruiting, inspiring, and equipping staff and volunteers to reach kids through authentic Christ-sharing relationships. The Executive Director also curates resources by raising and stewarding the financial resources of the chapter.

Responsibilities

  • Visionary Strategist (20%)
    • Create and communicate the vision for the ministry.
    • Make decisions with a kingdom perspective.
    • Shape and execute strategy in line with YFC USA processes, standards, and best practices.
    • Develop and execute a five-year strategic plan for the chartered area.
    • Develop and execute a yearly marketing plan and execution calendar that shares the vision of the ministry.
  • Team Developer (20%)
    • Demonstrate Christ-like character.
    • Mentor and coach staff and volunteers.
    • Recruit, select, develop, and coach staff and volunteers in partnership with YFC USA.
    • Maintain YFC USA standards and policies for screening and training all staff and volunteers.
    • Actively work with the local Board of Directors to steward the local mission of YFC.
    • Complete the appropriate credentialing process for this role.
    • Develop staff, volunteers, and kids toward their personal ministry growth.
    • Utilize YFC’s online training platform, regional conferences, and other resources for development.
    • Maintain a healthy personal balance by guarding time for rest.
    • Take regular time for silent reflection and prayer, listening to and depending on Jesus for guidance.
  • Ministry Developer (20%)
    • Build authentic Christ-sharing relationships.
    • Create 3Story Communities.
    • Plan, implement, and evaluate ministry outcomes.
    • Assess the local community and identify needed YFC ministry programs.
    • Execute YFC ministry models by implementing YFC processes, standards, and best practices.
    • Assess ministry outcomes using YFC Knowledge Base, Impact, and other resources.
    • Ensure ministry data is submitted accurately each month.
  • Resource Steward (40%)
    • Develop and manage a July–June operating budget in partnership with the local board.
    • Implement a Donor Development program aligned with YFC USA’s “Find, Win, Keep, Lift” philosophy.
    • Engage donors and potential donors weekly regarding the ministry and mission of YFC.
    • Oversee See the Story & Be the Story Events and major gift development.
    • Manage staff Circle Of Influence (COI) development and activities.
    • Steward government contracts on behalf of YFC Military for the benefit of military-connected kids.
  • Spiritual Responsibilities
    • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom through prayer and meditation for the organization and specific initiatives.
    • Participate in and lead regular times of prayer, devotion, and worship.
    • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps, and events.
    • Model empathy, humility, and care for all people, promoting equity and inclusion in faith expression.
    • Opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through YFC or an outside recognized body.
  • Fundraising Responsibilities
    • Meet fundraising goals and maintain a predetermined account balance for the chapter.
    • Develop and implement a development plan aligned with annual budget objectives.
    • Follow YFC USA’s policies and procedures for all fundraising activities, donor development, and events.
    • Regularly participate in activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC USA, including extending invitations to fundraising events, recruiting donor contacts, and personally ministering to donors.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in senior leadership roles at a youth-serving organization, demonstrating proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above.
  • Proven financial management and fundraising acumen.
  • Experience managing diverse partnerships across nonprofit, philanthropic, education, and corporate sectors.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with facility in technology.
  • Presence as a leader with evident passion and commitment to serving all youth.
  • Integrity, enthusiasm, and an exemplary work ethic.
  • Collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
  • Positive attitude with an innate ability to devise creative solutions.
  • Ability to humbly serve and honor others even in difficult situations with prayer, consistency, transparency, and resilience (Enduring Humility).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
