Job Summary
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is seeking two Chief Infrastructure Officers and Deputy Chief Infrastructure Officers to lead the Transit Division’s Maintenance of Way & Facilities operations. These positions are part of an evolving leadership structure supporting infrastructure operations, workforce alignment, system reliability, and modernization efforts within one of the nation's most complex urban transit systems.
About the Role
The successful candidate will lead critical infrastructure systems that support daily transit service throughout the City and County of San Francisco. They will oversee operations, build productive labor relationships, and help shape the future of transit infrastructure in San Francisco.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Maintenance of Way & Facilities operations
- Support infrastructure operations, workforce alignment, system reliability, and modernization efforts
- Lead meaningful work that directly impacts the community and supports one of the most recognized transit systems in the United States
Requirements
- Highly collaborative and emotionally intelligent leadership skills
- Strong operational and infrastructure backgrounds
- Ability to unify highly specialized teams and communicate effectively across diverse groups
- Experience leading infrastructure operations in a complex urban transit environment
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience in infrastructure operations
- Proven ability to lead and manage large, diverse teams
- Experience with labor relations and stakeholder engagement

Pay
- Chief Infrastructure Officer: Annual Salary: $223,860 - $330,720 DOE/DOQ
- Deputy Chief Infrastructure Officer: Annual Salary: $210,678 – $311,194 DOE/DOQ
