About the role

The Deputy IT Director of Infrastructure oversees the planning, implementation, and maintenance of an organization’s core technology systems, including networks, servers, cloud platforms, and data centers. They support the IT Director in setting strategic direction, ensuring system reliability and security, managing budgets and vendors, and leading technical teams to deliver scalable and resilient infrastructure services. This position will require the incumbent to be available for the on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization’s IT infrastructure strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of core systems including servers, storage, cloud platforms, and data centers.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and disaster recovery capabilities across all infrastructure services.
  • Establish and enforce infrastructure standards, policies, and best practices for reliability and operational excellence.
  • Support the IT Director in managing infrastructure budgets, capital planning, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee infrastructure incident response, problem management, and root-cause analysis to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
  • Build, mentor, and evaluate high-performing infrastructure team members.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on system performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives, cloud migrations, and modernization efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and governance requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Systems Administration, Database Administration, Windows and Linux, DevOps.
  • Integrity: Exercise discretion in handling confidential information and materials. Maintain personal and business affairs in a manner that ensures public confidence in the integrity, competence, impartiality, and independence of the judiciary as well as avoid situations that could lead to conflict, or the appearance of conflict.
  • Professionalism: Interact with all persons in a respectful manner, maintain business-like appearance, and promote harmony in the workplace. Interact with executive branch agencies, federal agencies, and judicial officers in a manner that promotes confidence and respect in the Office of Judicial Administration.
  • Customer Service: Act as a liaison when interacting with management, staff, internal and external stakeholders to provide program specific information, answer questions, and address issues/problems raised. Successfully diffuse elevated conversations and manage conflict resolution.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively and respectfully with team members, supervisors, and staff in other divisions of the Office of Judicial Administration. Communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Organization: Manage assignments to ensure all tasks are completed within deadlines. Effectively manage time and prioritization of tasks and projects. Prepare and maintain complex and confidential records in an automated system to work on numerous tasks.
  • Critical Thinking: Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Attention to Detail: Research, coordinate, and track work in a proficient manner to ensure accuracy.
  • Leadership: Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Collaborate and build consensus among fellow managers and other team members.
  • Problem Solving: Identify problems and review related information to develop and implement solutions. Use deductive reasoning skills to meet several complimentary goals.
  • Technology and Tool Usage: Learn and adapt to new technologies within the Microsoft Suite as well as Supreme Court systems.

Pay

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $98,000 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.
