Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting customers, learning their names, and addressing them by name.
• Assists customers with various tasks such as escorting them to products, securing items, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions or requests.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Operates cash register accurately, scanning products, redeeming coupons, issuing rain checks, and counting change.
• Plants merchandise in bags or boxes, gives packages to customers, and assists courtesy personnel as needed.
• Answers customer questions and concerns and follows up with appropriate personnel.
• Understands and follows local, state, and company policies on sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets.
• Stocks, faces, rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, and maintains cleanliness of the work area.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Qualifications

No formal education or experience requirements. Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position is frequently exposed to temperature extremes and possible dampness. It is a fast-paced work environment with potential hazards from equipment movement, electrical shock, exposure to chemicals and solvents.
