About the role

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting customers and addressing their needs.
• Escorts customers to products, secures items, loads/unloads heavy items, and passes along customer suggestions or requests.
• Answers the phone and provides helpful service to customers.
• Works collaboratively with co-workers to ensure a positive work environment and customer satisfaction.
• Operates cash register accurately, scans products, handles coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, and issues rain checks.
• Plants merchandise in bags or boxes, assists with packaging, and directs customers to items.
• Answers customer questions and concerns, and follows up with appropriate personnel.
• Understands and follows local, state, and company policies regarding sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets.
• Stocks, faces, rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, and maintains cleanliness of the work area.
• Reports improper cash levels in the cash drawer and adheres to department and company guidelines on personal hygiene and dress.
• Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
• Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies verbally or in writing.

Qualifications

No formal education or experience is required. However, candidates must be physically capable of performing the job's duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.

Skills

Must have the ability to provide excellent customer service, follow instructions, and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
