Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting customers and addressing their needs.
• Escorts customers to products, secures items, loads/unloads heavy items, and passes along customer suggestions or requests.
• Answers the telephone and provides friendly, helpful service to customers.
• Works with co-workers to ensure a pleasant work environment and customer satisfaction.
• Operates cash register accurately, scans product, handles coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, and issues rain checks.
• Plants merchandise in bags or boxes, assists with packaging, and gives packages to customers.
• Answers customer questions and concerns and follows-up with appropriate personnel.
• Understands and follows local, state, and company policies on sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets.
• Stocks, faces, rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, and maintains cleanliness of the work area.
• Reports improper cash levels in cash drawer and helps maintain the store appearance.
• Verifies balances at the beginning and end of work shift and processes cash refunds or credit memos.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Secondary Duties And Responsibilities

• Assists store management as required (e.g., store displays, decorations for special promotions/events).
• Changes register tape and ribbons as necessary.
• Assists in other areas of store as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

• Able to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.

• Able to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.

• Able to communicate clearly and distinctly on the intercom or telephone system.
• Able to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Education And Experience

No formal education or experience requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Frequently exposed to temperature extremes and possible dampness.
• Possibly exposed to equipment movement hazards from a pallet jack, electrical shock, and exposure to chemicals and solvents.
• Fast-paced work environment.
