Charge Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Nights)

About the role

The Charge Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, efficient patient care by utilizing the nursing process, hospital policies, and procedures. They oversee nursing activities, delegate tasks to staff and auxiliary nurses, and supervise the maintenance of patient clinical records. Additionally, they assist with staff performance reports, bed assignments, and resolve department issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage nursing service activities and ensure compliance with standards
• Maintain inventory standards for supplies, medications, and equipment
• Track narcotics and medications accurately
• Assist with staff supervision, performance, and resource allocation
• Support patient care operations and problem-solving within the department

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, BSN)
• Current RN license in the state or a compact license
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) may be necessary based on the unit
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, and perform bending, reaching, and twisting
