Role Overview

The Charge Nurse (RN) - PCU is responsible for overseeing patient care, guiding staff, and ensuring a safe, efficient environment within the Progressive Care Unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care, assess and plan patient treatments
• Supervise support staff
• Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Mentor new staff
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Maintain accurate records
• Communicate effectively with medical teams
• Manage patient flow and delegate assignments
• Support high-quality, safe, and cost-effective nursing care
• Administer medications safely
• Perform emergency procedures as part of hospital incident command
• Adhere to protocols during emergency situations
• Support continuous improvement and ensure high standards of patient care and safety

Qualifications and Skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• At least 1 year of RN experience
• Licensure to practice (required)
• AHA BLS certification (required)
• ACLS, PALS, or NRP (preferred)
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical skills
